Alex Kordek

Being a dancer within a creative industry takes a lot of hard work and determination. Reality TV shows the X Factor and Troubles Bump & Grind has open doors for aspiring dancers to pursue a career giving unseen talent opportunities.

Dancers are now getting the credibility they deserve. A guy who knows exactly what it takes is Choreographer / Model Alex Kordek.

Alex Kordek is a dancer who knows the highs and the lows of success he has crafted a niche of his own which has opened doors not only for his moves but his passion for fashion.

Being as young as 4 years old Alex knew performing was all he ever wanted to do, small boy with big dreams. Alex said “ I started when I was 4 but it was very short lived because I was the only boy in the class. In my day there wasn’t much of it around but now there are so many things going on with dance.”

Growing up in Maidstone Kent was the beginning but not the end for Alex moving to London with the dreams of fulfilling a career as a professional dancer was the next step.

Alex said “ It was huge I started very late at 20 but I was very determined, so I moved to London in 2000 after completing a degree in acting & directing.” moving to London takes guts

so what now I asked. Alex said “ I went to Pineapple studios and thought I really want to do this. And started taking classes after work.”

Perseverance and sheer dedication are the ingredients needed to acquire success but support from our friends and family make the journey a lot smoother. I then went on to ask Alex how his family felt about him moving away, if he felt supported . He said  “  They were surprised would have preferred I go down the TV route as they were worried about me making a living out of it. He then added “ when I started doing big jobs and working with artists they realised I had a future in it.”

What he has done

coming to London Alex pursued his dreams not knowing if things would work out but had enough passion to see it through regardless. “He said things just happened for me and i just had to go with it.”

Soon as he got his foot through the door alex then did something extraordinary bringing dance to Gyms. This has progressed and developed over the years making Alex known in a world which became his own. He added It’s exciting because when I started at LA Fitness and places like Esporta it wasn’t on timetables. They were a bit intrigued so I then did gym training so I could teach in gyms.”

Alex was then able to teach street dance in gyms which would then take off and become a success.

Alex has an eye for fashion not only as a Model but now as a designer of his own clothing Label. Alex has now achieved so much himself building his own brand is next on the agenda he adds AJK his clothing brand and AJK dance will be launched during the summer, for me it’s about building an empire.”

I asked Alex to describe himself in three words he said friendly, eccentric and versatile,” In five years time he would like to progress with his clothing Line and dance bringing it abroad, do a big tour for a well established Artists.

I asked Alex what advice would he give to young aspiring dancers, “Work hard be consistent make sure you go to classes network and keep yourself out there.”
